Meditteranean Cuisine in Abreeza Mall
Abreeza of Ayala Malls has finally been opened to Dabawenyos just today. The mall was visited by thousands of shoppers, curious, photographers and social climbers. Haha. Ok, the edifice is something new. There were new brands also but its existence did not awe me that much not until I found this something new restaurant...the Cafe Mediterranean.Simple yet enticing.
The number of crowd gave me an idea to go out and breathe.Irritated with 'o.a' shoppengeras who shouted to death whenever a celebrity appears.Suffocated and hungry. So I decided to taste Cafe Med, sited near at the mall entrance, out of curiosity. The dishes were really Mediterranean.Lots of spices and vegetables. Obviously as first timer,I knew nothing of its menu but the waiter suggested me to order Lentil Soup (Green lentils cooked with herbs & spices.),Grilled Beef Mediterranean style with buttered rice, and grilled chicken.(Sad to say I got a battery empty camera so I just took the food with my samsung phone...less resolution).
The taste is different. CafeMed cooks really something new for Davao.Eating with me were indians, muslims, arabian, turkish and american. This points out that CafeMed is not an ordinary trying hard commercial kitchen. While savoring their food I felt also I am eating somewhere in Greece.Somewhere out in this country. Pizza is also available. That is my next food trip for the next visit. CafeMed tastes would really give you a burrrppp!
I didn't have a good time witnessing Abreeza opened its door. I got a 100% satisfaction to the new restaurant like CafeMed offering such great taste cuisine. Arrrmmmmm....mmm!

Being so curious with this new restaurant, I was able to get some facts about its existence not just in Davao but also on other parts of the county.Check this out.
For many years, it had been the dream of siblings, Dixie & Baby Mabanta, to put up a casual restaurant serving authentic Mediterranean cuisine and making it accessible to the Filipino consumer. They invited Marla Tañada to invest and manage the business. Marla's background was in the corporate world, having handled marketing and public relations of one division, then research and product development and quality control of another division.

On Nov. 19, 1005, Cafe Mediterranean, or Cafe Med, as it is so fondly called, opened its first branch in Greenbelt 1. Shortly after, Robinsons Galleria opened in the Movieworld area, and then, the Podium, which is a favorite of the Asian Development Bank employees.
Shortly after celebrating its 10th year anniversary, Cafe Med started to franchise. Its first branch was in SM Mall of Asia. In the second quarter of 2006, Alabang Town Center was set up to serve residents of "the South (Manila)." In early 2007, Cafe Med ventured out of Manila and is now operating in Boracay. And soon to open in Davao, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro.
Every quarter, specials are offered to excite customers with new tastes. The menu caters to every taste - including vegetarians and the sweet-tooth. Of course, there are the regular favorites like gyros (one customer said: They are the best shawarmas he's ever tasted!), the Roasted Vegetable Soup (for whose recipe, one American lady begged Marla to give her the recipe - in exchange she'd give up her first born son, she kidded). A favorite light dessert is the panna cotta, and for the chocolate lover, try the Tartufo. Always with hands-on supervision, the quality of the food is always exquisite!
