Picnic turns Nigtmare: Waterfall sweeps a family
Patalpani Indore waterfalls in India is one of the best tourist spots in their land. Suddenly, within 30 seconds the water level rose up and swept 5 members of the family away who were just having a picnic with their friends.
The video has became viral on facebook. The shocking clip dragged my attention as if I personally witnessed the incident. The tragedy happened last July 17,2011 but it has shaken the world now as series of videos from witnesses have uploaded online.Few minutes before the mishap, the family together with some folks were having fun taking photos and embracing the beauty of nature while standing at the summit of Patalpani. Suddenly, the crowd was disturbed by the rushing water from their back and evacuated the area.Unfortunately, these indians were not able to reach the bank of the river and cling on the rock. But they were matchless with the raging flashflood and they were finally swept away. (Watch the video and witness how helpless they were).
Gaurav Patidar, the youth who show the sensational video showing the victims being swept away in the floods said, " The entire episode was over in 30-seconds with water rushing in, covering a distance of 150 ft in 30 seconds. Had we got one minute we could have extended the rope and saved lives"
The cause is not the NATURE but humans.
Open flood gates of Nakheri dam canal system adjacent to the Malendi River and large-scale leakage caused the sudden surge of water at the falls sweeping away the victims.
Department executive engineer SS Geherwar denied possibilities of water from Nakheri entering the Malendi river but confirmed the water leakage. "Maintenance of the canal is the responsibility of local bodies" he said.
Water is usually let out the canal from Nakheri in November -December and during summers.
