Another Cebu Pacific flight made a rough landing and sideswiped the runway lighting at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Thursday afternoon. According to the report, there were 5 lights along Runway 6 of the airport were damaged.
NAIA officer said that the incident was caused by the squally weather prevailing over Metro Manila. No passengers were injured while the pilot is currently being investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
This is the second plane of the same company that made a bad touchdown this month. The first one is the 5J 971 that landed in the grass area of the Davao International Airport last June 2 resulting the passengers to file a class suit against the aircraft's management.
OPINION
It is so unfair for the people who love their lives so much entrusting their safety to irresponsible captains. It has been reported that there is a bad weather prevailing the area and why the hell the flight was still pushed through?
Or maybe, there is another cover-up stories going on here. The 5J-971 that skidded off the runway at the Davao Airport was initially reported with the same reason. Blame the weather! Then, it was found out that the pilot mishandled the landing operation plus the ineptness of its crew to deal such case and the airport's lack of emergency response.
Pilots must be regularly checked also in all aspects. There must be a regular evaluation of these captains psychologically or emotionally. They must be fully equipped externally and internally before piloting the aircraft. I can smell that there is an internal problems among our pilots. Service must not be on SALE.
