Siquijor Movie:Sick Horror
I watched the film. Good?In my expectation, yes! But as I study the film,there are a lot of lapses.And these errors are not tolerable. Let us tackle it one by one.
The story is all about the "Hilakbot" horror dokyu film in a certain network. The team characterized by Angel Aquino, Assunta de Rosi , Ian Veneracion etc. who were the people who traveled to the popular mystic island"Siquijor" to find a story for HILAKBOT.And there is an event that results to their death.Hmm as usual, "hindi na bago sa atin ang mga kulam at ano pang kabuburechihang mga aswang stories".
At first of the film, malakas ang impact dahil talagang mayroong impact ang scary scenes nila lalo na dun sa isang episode ng HILAKBOT "multo sa elevator" Hahay pag pinoy nga naman mahilig sa imitation. That was scary because MARK PHILIPP ESPINA,the director,imitates the SADACO one of the GRUDGE. Aba syempre nakakatakot yun because of the already-scary-impact to the viewers brought by asian movies.
As the film progresses, there are lot of irrelevant scenes and there audios that we can hardly hear.Hmm baka mali na yun sa GAISANO MALL pero bakit sa kanila ang mahina ang audio?. Aside from the "malikot" hand of the camera man napakahina ng musical scoring in which it plays the whole package of the film to scare audiences.
The most deceiving is the poster. Bow ako sa design. It really atracts and calls people to watch especially to those who are horror freaks. Ako naman as guerilla filmmaker, support agad ako. Ang ganda kaya ng poster.BUT THE POSTER DOES NOT SPEAK OR HAS RELEVANCE ON THE FILM. YUNG MODEL DUN SA POSTER ay hinihintay ng lahat na lumabas sa scene pero they fail to show it.Sayang ang pera ng production.Kawawang VIVA.
I understand because MARK PHILIPP ESPINA ay isang baguhang director kaya lang horror agad ang pinasok niya which needs intense direction.Eh parang ang manonood ng film ay magkakasakit dahil hindi na satisfy ang expectation nila. Sick Horror- Siquijor.

ReplyDeleteSa tingin ko, kailangan mong panoorin ang pelikulang ito na mas mabuti.
Baka may matutunan ka.
Kaya mayroong 'imitation' scene doon ay dahil ito mismo ang ginagawa ng mga pinoy ngayon - imitation.
Ang pelikulang ito ay may sinasabi na mas malalim tunkol sa ating kultura - hindi lang ito pang 'entertainment'.
Isa sa mga ito ay ang difference between "expected horror" which is what the TV show crew in the movie made, and actual "horror" which is what the movie's horror hinged on.
Mas nakakatakot ang magkasakit na hindi mo nalalaman kung bakit kaysa doon sa mga multo multo na asian movie style. Ito ang pinapakita sa pelikulang ito.
Mahina nga ang audio pati sometimes madilim.
Pero ang concept ng film ay kailangan tignan mabuti bago husgahan.
It's a smart film - maybe ahead of it's time for a place like the Philippines.
Dalawa ang camera style dito - yung style ng camera crew sa 'Hilakbot' at yung style ng pelikula mismo, na habang tumatagal ang storya ay nag-e-evolve to the style of the camera crew in the film.
Panoorin mo uli pare. Study it. Don't just dismiss it because it's made in Pinas.
Gawang Pinoy to. Be proud.
