Penis on Jesus Christ Face

Yes, there is a penis on Jesus Christ's face and another penis on the crucifix.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines exhibition dubbed as "KULO" has been forcibly closed by the CCP's management due to several threats received by one of the artists Medeo Cruz who showcased some blasphemous artwork of Jesus Christ and other Holy images of the Catholics.Even the CCP officers have received some threats if they will continue the exhibition of KULO specifically artworks of Cruz.

The exhibit has received negative feedbacks from catholic groups and other critics condemning Cruz' works as immoral,denuding the value of the crucifix and the holy images.

In my opinion, it was not art the way it should be. I don't believe catholic images even the said power of the crucifix but I do value the what is called 'RESPECT'. Art is an expression of creativity where messages hide behind its unique presentation. As I see it, it was an art but a DIRT. Dirt that degrades the faith of millions of catholics who have been preserving this christian belief for more than a hundred years.

Medeo Cruz is crazy. This is Philippines. A land where millions of roman catholics live with these images. A country of conservatism. The land of true artists.And, I am happy that the President Aquino supported to close the said exhibit.

Bottomline, my point surrounds on the word "RESPECT". If you hate Jesus, you are entitled to do so in a moral way. You don't need to promote it and proud about it that you have expressed your feelings by abusing the word "ART".

    db kung may nabastos tlga dun ay not the religion itself? face of jesus is a mere symbolism ng christian. so ang naoffend lag ni mideo ay yung symbol not its belief and teachings. ms bastos pa nga ung linggo linggo na sa simbahan pero keep on repeating ung mga mistake na lagi nilang hinihinge ng tawad.ayt?

    para saan pa yung freedom of expression kung hindi mo ito magagamit kasi pinipigilan ka ng ibang mga bagay. ano ngayon kung nasa pilipinas siya? ano ngayon kung maraming catholic dito? anung dirt? walang dirt sa art. ganun lang talaga niya pinalabas yung expression niya at wala karapatan ang ibang tao para diktahan yun. anu ba yan pati pa naman art kailangan pang inspeksyonin ng simbahan.

    kung kaya nyo ang ipaglaban ang mga pananaw nyo..wag mag anonymous, mag lagay ng tunay na pangalan.. ako artist din.. may pinag kaiba ang personal views and freedom of expression..the writer of this blog is right.. eto logic a! hindi dahil nasasarapan ka mag droga, e mag mamimigay kna at mamahagi ng droga! hnd dahil paborito mo ang ice cream e mamimigay ka ng ice cream. but you poses the right to express and to share you think.but definitively not promote! at dahil kayong dalawa ay hindi artist,hindi nyo ito maiintidihan..one of the sole purpose of art ay hnd lng self expression you have also the moral responsibility to RESPECT the views of your audience..NOT to offend them..oh by the way, in case the both you cant see it..his so called artwork is obviously political aimed directly at CBCP..the fact that pareho yung reaction nyo, unconsciously you went for a ride on the political wagon of Mideo M.     Para saan ang freedom of expression?Magbasa ka ng BILL OF RIGHTS section 4...alamin mo ang TUNAY NA KAHULUGAN ng FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. Subukan mo kayang isigaw toh sa gitna ng kalsada

    Of course you will not do that! Why? Because you respect the people around you. Because you will be misjudged. Because your are in the Philippines and you are not in the jungle of Africa!     This is not just about Catholics!

    Its about Christ. The Lord of the Universe who is ridiculed and disrespected.

    Would you be happy if a picture of your mom in the gallery has a penis on her face?

    You say its freedom of expression, but I say its immature, illogical and absurd. We may free to express but not in this way. If I say, bad things about your mom in public, its irrational.

    Now, burn this piece of craft you have.

    freedom of expression? eh kung sipain kita sa mukha, tadyakan kita ng paulit2, basagin ko yang ilong mo? freedom of expression q yun. ano? Kahit freedom may limitations. E2 na ang resulta ng pgbbalewala ng mga sudyante sa philosophy. Ang kkitid ng isip. suggest ko lang sayo anonymous, read immanuel kant's freedom para maintindihan mo.

    Masasabe ko lang... hindi matatawag na sining ang isang bagay o imahen na gagawing katawa tawa para lamang sa walang kwentang mga pananaw sa buhay...kung sinu man yang MEDEO CRUZ na yan... tyak ko buhay pa sya sinusunog na ang kaluluwa nya sa Impyerno.... hindi dahil sa katoliko ako Christian kayo or anu man ang mga relihiyon naten sa buhay... ang mahalaga respetuhan ng kanya kanyang paniniwala. hindi sya gnwa ng diyos o kung sinu man ang gumwa jan na perpektong perpekto... bago sya tumuligsa... may mga mas malalaking tao pang nauna sakanya,,, nasaan naba sila ngayun? wala na.. ang iglesia katolika... anjan parin sila...

    Don't you think this is just a little hypocritical? Catholic Devotees threatening the artist? Sure, his 'ART' may be offensive & in poor taste but the Popes of the Renaissance did exactly the same thing to statues exhibiting penises & having them cut off. Censorship is just another way of saying "You better see things my way or else." If you don't like his art - DON'T GO SEE IT! Threatening violence does more harm than his offensive images & is against Christian values.
