More 'Dutertistas' in Negros, Mindanao

To show the true magnitude of Dutertistas in the Mindanao area, supporters of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for president will stage a big rally in Cagayan De Oro this week.


"Dutertista" is a term coined by the maverick mayor himself, which refers to persons who keep on pushing him to run for president this coming 2016.


Among the growing list of Dutertistas are prominent political personalities like former Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel, Jr., his son Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, former President Fidel Ramos, Senator Serge Osmena, and former Cebu Governor Lito Osmena to name a few.


Last Thursday, a caravan was held in Negros Occidental to convince Mayor Duterte to run for president in 2016.


The caravan is part of a national effort of Duterte believers that will converge in Davao on August 28, to meet with the Davao City mayor himself and convince him to run, Jesus V. Hinlo Jr., a convenor of the Duterte for President Movement in the province, had said.


Hinlo said they want Duterte to run for president because of his support for federalism, his strong campaign against criminality and his vision for the country’s progress through industrialization.


The Negros Duterte caravan was led by Salvador Benedicto Mayor Joemax Ortiz, Bacolod City Administrator Rolando Villamor, private sector leaders Butch Ebreo, Bibit Puey, Toots Jimenez and Hinlo.


At least seven vehicles and countless motorcycles joined the Negros caravan that drove through Salvador Benedicto, San Carlos City and the northern part of Negros Occidental to distribute ballers and leaflets about Duterte.


In Mindanao, former South Cotabato Governor Mike Sueno said Duterte supporters decided to hold the rally as a “show of force” so that the mayor can finally see how much the people of the south support his presidential run.

The Cagayan de Oro rally will be held at the Gaston Park on August 22 at 8:30 in the morning, exactly six (6) days before the city’s annual fiesta.

Sueno hopes that this show of force will finally convince Mayor Duterte to vie for the top post in next year’s election, Daghan kaayo nang mu-apil ani kay Mindanao-wide gud ni”.


Meanwhile PDP-Laban chairman for Northern Mindanao Elmer Quillo said that Dutertistas from Cotabato, Davao, as well as other parts of the island will gather in the City of Valencia in Bukidnon a day before the Cagayan de Oro rally.


The PDP-Laban said it would also mobilize members from Misamis Oriental.
